When do I need a Building Permit?
Building Permits are required for all new residential or commercial construction sites, additions and structural alterations.
Types of work that do not require a permit are generally cosmetic in nature; for example: siding, roofing, and painting.
Permits shall not be required for one-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses; provided the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet.
Other permits that may be required by the City of Chadron are fence permits, sign permits, and use of right-of-way permits for sidewalks, driveways and plantings.
The Zoning/Building Department can assist you in determining if your project requires a permit.
