Committee Overview

  • The Chadron Economic Development Plan provides that a percentage of the proceeds from the one-half percent City Sales and Use Tax adopted pursuant to the Local Option Municipal Economic Development Act, be allocated to a Community Development Program.
  •  Anyone wishing to apply for Community Betterment funds is required to complete a grant application form, which is ten reviewed by the Committee and submitted to the City Council with a recommendation. 
  • The Community Betterment funds are intended to underwrite specific projects or provide equipment and other tangible items that will have a positive impact on and enhance the image, beauty, and quality of life of the residents and visitors to the City. 
  • It is further intended to provide maximum results for the recipient when added to funds obtained for other sources. 
  • Projects or items that provide ongoing benefits to the community are preferred over one-time projects or uses.

  • The Community Development Advisory Committee consists of seven (7) members.
  • The terms are for three (3) years.
